Amazon Unveils AI-Powered "Canvas" for Sellers, Promising Real-Time Business Insights and Growth

Amazon has launched a groundbreaking new feature for its sellers, introducing an AI-powered "canvas experience" designed to provide real-time, interactive insights into their sales data. This innovative tool aims to empower sellers to visualize, analyze, and ultimately grow their businesses more effectively by integrating artificial intelligence with dynamic, personalized visuals. The marketplace announced on Tuesday that, for the first time, sellers can generate interactive canvases that consolidate their business data, crucial insights, and actionable recommendations in a live format.

The new "canvas experience," accessible within Amazon Seller Central, combines an AI-powered chat interface with dynamic, personalized visual representations of data. This integration allows sellers to not only see their data but also to actively explore various business scenarios and make informed decisions to drive growth. Amazon Vice President of Technology, Mary Beth Westmoreland, highlighted the unique nature of this tool in a LinkedIn post, stating, "This isn’t just another dashboard or reporting tool. It works with Seller Assistant and visually adapts as sellers ask questions, dig deeper into specific insights, or explore different scenarios. Some of the folks on our team say it’s kinda like chatting with your data." This analogy underscores the interactive and conversational approach Amazon has taken in developing this AI-driven solution.

Amazon’s official announcement to sellers elaborates on the capabilities of this new workspace: "Explore, visualize, and act on your data with a new AI-powered workspace. You now have access to a dynamic canvas experience in Seller Central, where you can visualize data and key insights, explore scenarios, and take critical actions to grow your business. This integrated, AI-native workspace combines chat and visual elements to provide highly personalized and actionable insights."

The functionality is designed to be intuitive. When a seller interacts with the "Seller Assistant," either by asking questions or selecting from suggested prompts, the assistant will dynamically assemble a personalized canvas. This canvas will feature data, insights, and recommended actions specifically tailored to the seller’s business needs. A key distinguishing factor of this experience is its adaptability. Sellers can delve deeper into any presented insight, pose follow-up questions, or request alternative perspectives on their data. The canvas will then instantly reconfigure, generating new visualizations, surfacing additional insights, and presenting specific recommended actions that directly address the seller’s inquiries, thereby granting them comprehensive control over their business exploration and management.

Amazon Sellers Can Easily Drill into Sales Data for Insights with New AI Tool

Specific use cases include the ability to analyze inventory levels, track performance trends, and generate custom visualizations by requesting more detailed information or different viewpoints. Looking ahead, Amazon envisions the canvas evolving to handle more complex scenarios. Future iterations will enable sellers to ask questions such as, "What product should I launch next?" or "What promotions should I run?" These complex queries will initiate guided explorations, offering insights into product opportunities, comparative competitive analysis, inventory recommendations, and proposed actions. Amazon has committed to progressively releasing more advanced and intelligent capabilities in the coming months, aimed at enhancing sellers’ ability to manage their businesses, identify opportunities, and expedite decision-making processes.

To access the new features, sellers can navigate to the desktop version of Seller Central and select "Access canvases" from the bottom of the left-side panel. For sellers who have not yet transitioned to the new Seller Central interface, a toggle option is available at the top right of the screen labeled "New Seller Central."

While Amazon is championing this AI-driven tool, initial reactions from some sellers have been mixed, tinged with skepticism. Two sellers expressed reservations, with one indicating a reluctance to be compelled to use AI tools. Another seller voiced concerns about the current reliability of AI, suggesting it is "still a long way from being reliable and for meaningful full-time use" and not yet "ready for primetime." These concerns are echoed by Amazon’s own documentation; its help page for Seller Assistant explicitly states that it is powered by AI and includes a warning: "AI is experimental and can make mistakes."

Amazon has stated that the canvas experience began rolling out on March 3, 2026, to all sellers operating in the US and UK markets at no additional charge. The initial rollout focuses on capabilities for analyzing performance trends and understanding business operations. Future plans include expanding the canvas experience to additional countries and introducing support for languages beyond English later in the year.

Visual aids, including screenshots of the new canvas experience, are available on Amazon’s corporate blog. Additionally, Amazon has published a video on YouTube demonstrating the functionality and potential of this new AI-powered tool for sellers. The video, titled "Amazon’s canvas experience for sellers," offers a visual walkthrough of how the platform operates and the benefits it aims to deliver to the seller community.
