Amazon has launched a groundbreaking initiative designed to empower its vast network of third-party sellers by providing them with sophisticated, AI-driven tools to analyze their sales data and foster business growth. The e-commerce giant announced Tuesday that sellers can now leverage a novel "canvas experience" within Amazon Seller Central, which offers personalized, interactive dashboards that consolidate business data, actionable insights, and recommended strategies in real time. This new feature aims to enable sellers to "visualize and grow their business in real time," marking a significant advancement in how sellers can interact with and understand their performance metrics.
The core of this new offering is an AI-powered chat interface integrated with dynamic, personalized visuals. This "canvas experience" allows sellers to not only view their data but also to actively explore scenarios, delve deeper into key insights, and execute critical actions directly within the platform. This move signifies Amazon’s commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to provide more sophisticated and user-friendly tools for its seller community.
Mary Beth Westmoreland, Vice President of Technology at Amazon, highlighted the innovative nature of this tool in a recent LinkedIn post. She emphasized that the canvas experience is far more than a conventional dashboard or reporting system. Instead, it functions in conjunction with a "Seller Assistant," dynamically adapting and evolving as sellers pose questions, investigate specific insights, or explore various business scenarios. Westmoreland described the experience metaphorically, stating, "Some of the folks on our team say it’s kinda like chatting with your data." This analogy underscores the interactive and conversational approach Amazon is taking with its data analytics tools for sellers.
Amazon’s official announcement to sellers detailed the capabilities of this new workspace: "You now have access to a dynamic canvas experience in Seller Central, where you can visualize data and key insights, explore scenarios, and take critical actions to grow your business. This integrated, AI-native workspace combines chat and visual elements to provide highly personalized and actionable insights."
The process begins when a seller interacts with the Seller Assistant, either by asking direct questions or selecting from pre-defined prompts. In response, the Seller Assistant curates a personalized canvas populated with data, insights, and recommended actions specifically tailored to the individual seller’s business needs. A key distinguishing feature of this experience is its inherent flexibility. Sellers are empowered to delve deeper into any presented insight, ask follow-up questions to gain further clarity, or request alternative perspectives on their data. The canvas is designed to adapt instantaneously, generating new visualizations, surfacing additional insights, and presenting recommended actions that directly address the seller’s inquiries, thereby granting them comprehensive control over their business exploration and management.

Sellers can utilize this tool for a range of analytical tasks, including analyzing inventory levels, exploring performance trends, and generating new visualizations by requesting more detailed information or different viewpoints. The platform is designed to evolve, enabling sellers to work through increasingly complex business scenarios over time. Future capabilities will extend to addressing strategic questions such as "What product should I launch next?" or "What promotions should I run?" These complex queries will initiate a guided exploration process, allowing sellers to identify product opportunities, benchmark against competitive insights, review inventory recommendations, and implement proposed actions. Amazon has committed to a progressive rollout of increasingly powerful and intelligent capabilities in the coming months, all aimed at assisting sellers in managing their businesses more effectively, identifying emerging opportunities, and making faster, more informed decisions.
To access the new canvas experience, sellers are instructed to open the updated Seller Central interface on their desktop and select "Access canvases" from the bottom of the left-side panel. For sellers who have not yet transitioned to the new Seller Central experience, a toggle option is available on the top right of the screen labeled "New Seller Central."
Further details and demonstrations of the new canvas capabilities can be found on Amazon’s corporate blog, under the title "Amazon introduces dynamic AI-powered canvas experience that transforms how sellers grow their business." Amazon has also published a video on YouTube providing a visual overview of the new feature.
Despite the potential benefits, the introduction of AI-powered tools has been met with some apprehension from the seller community. Two Amazon sellers expressed skepticism following the announcement. One seller voiced a preference against being compelled to utilize AI tools, while another questioned the current reliability and readiness of AI for full-time, meaningful business application, suggesting it was "not yet ready for primetime." This sentiment is echoed by Amazon’s own documentation; its help page regarding the Seller Assistant explicitly states that the tool is powered by AI and includes a warning: "AI is experimental and can make mistakes."
Amazon has confirmed that the canvas experience became available to all sellers operating in the US and UK markets as of March 3, 2026, at no additional cost. The initial rollout focuses on capabilities that assist sellers in analyzing performance trends and gaining a deeper understanding of their business operations. In the latter half of the year, the canvas experience is slated for expansion to additional countries and will be accessible in languages beyond English, further broadening its reach and utility for Amazon’s global seller base.
