The Dubai Land Department (DLD) announced on Friday the imminent launch of the second phase of its real estate tokenization pilot program. According to Ctrl Alt, all on-chain transactions pertaining to these real estate tokens will be recorded on the XRP Ledger and secured by Ripple Custody, leveraging the security and efficiency of these blockchain solutions.

In a May 2025 forecast, the department predicted that the initiative could contribute as much as $16 billion to the market by 2033, representing an estimated 7% of the jurisdiction’s total property transactions. Ziad El Chaar, CEO of DarGlobal, expressed strong optimism about the potential of tokenization to revolutionize real estate financing. He stated, "We definitely see this as taking over the way other projects are being funded." El Chaar further elaborated on the democratizing effect of tokenization, noting, "[Tokenization] will open the door to many more investors, who would like to take part in investing in real estate but don’t have access today."
